New meetings hotel properties are continuing to pop up on the Kansas City hospitality scene, offering upscale accommodations, dining, amenities, and plentiful meeting space for event planners to choose from. Since October 2023, two new meetings hotels have opened in the destination, with two more set to open this fall—for a total of 652 new hotel rooms.  

These new rooms are a welcome addition to Kansas City’s hotel inventory that features myriad upscale accommodations available to meeting and event groups across the city, said Nathan Hermiston, senior vice president of convention sales and services at Visit KC, the city’s convention and visitors bureau. 

“Whether it’s a great night’s sleep at a luxury hotel, grabbing a bite to eat at a top restaurant or holding an unforgettable meeting, Kansas City has a plethora of amazing places to have a world-class experience,” Hermiston said. “Meeting planners can find luxury, history, charm and more around every corner in Kansas City. Plus, the state-of-the-art terminal at Kansas City International Airport and the free-to-ride Kansas City Streetcar make discovering the city easier than ever before.” 

AC Hotel Kansas City Downtown 

Slated to hold its grand opening October 10 after taking over the historic Rialto Building in downtown Kansas City’s financial district, the new 238-room AC Hotel Kansas City is conveniently situated steps from premier attractions, including the Kansas City Convention Center, T-Mobile Center, and the Power & Light District.  

A Marriott Bonvoy property, the hotel offers 4,076 square feet of meeting and event space, including seven event rooms equipped with the latest technology. Food and beverage outlets include the AC Kitchen + Café and the AC Lounge, which serves Spanish wines and tapas.  

Origin Hotel Kansas City 

Opening September 25, the Origin Hotel Kansas City will be the first-ever hotel property to take up residence in the city’s Berkley Riverfront and is within walking distance of the CPKC Stadium, home of the women’s professional soccer team KC Current, as well as the upcoming Kansas City Streetcar extension. A Wyndham Hotel, his new boutique property features 118 guest rooms and suites, farm-to-table dining at Show Pony onsite restaurant and bar, a fitness center, complimentary bike rentals, and locally inspired art.  

Origin Hotel also offers 4,500 square feet of contemporary meeting spaces comprising three flexible spaces, including an indoor/outdoor meeting room with a terrace overlooking the Missouri River, and onsite event services such as in-house catering and A/V technology. 

Cascade Hotel Kansas City 

Opened in October 2023 in the luxurious Country Club Plaza neighborhood, the modern Cascade Hotel Kansas City, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, features 175 rooms, the Strang Chef Collective food hall offering four restaurant concepts, the Strang Café, the Lounge 29 bar, a full-service spa, and a fitness center.  

The Marriott Bonvoy property also offers 14,891 square feet of modern, dedicated meeting space, including 10 event rooms and five breakout spaces, with its largest room able to hold 450 people. 

Aloft Hotel Country Club Plaza 

Opened in January 2023, Aloft Hotel Country Club Plaza, Cascade Hotel’s trendy sister property, offers 121 loft-style rooms with 9-foot ceilings, three food and beverage outlets, and a 351-square-foot meeting space that can accommodate up to 12 people. The $100 million dual-hotel development is connected via a walkway, allowing guests to take advantage of amenities at both the Cascade and Aloft hotels.
