Sound Baths and 9 More Wellness Trends For Corporate Events

Want your attendees to feel good vibrations at your next corporate event? A sound bath—an ancient healing practice that's now trending big time throughout the U.S.—is one way to boost positive vibes, fostering a sense of community and social connection into a corporate event.

Before this spring, I had never participated in a sound bath, and I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical of the benefits but also curious about the craze that celebrities like Brad Pitt are using to launch new product lines instead of a traditional preview.

How it works: Typically, a sound bath involves lying in a reclining position, and a guide trained in sound bath musical techniques uses one or several instruments—such as Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, wind chimes, crystal bowls, drums, and rain sticks—to create soothing, overlapping vibrations. These vibrations theoretically lead you deeper into a state of contemplation or relaxation.

By the numbers: The corporate wellness market has seen significant growth in recent years due to increasing awareness of the benefits of employee wellness, as well as rising healthcare costs. In fact, the global health and wellness market was valued at $5.53 trillion in 2023 and is projected to reach $9.4 trillion by 2032, growing at a compounded annual growth rate of 5.6% from 2023 to 2032, according to a new report by Nova One Advisor.

Why it matters: Corporate event organizers are adding a variety of wellness activities into their events in the hopes of increasing productivity, improving mental well-being, and creating a more engaged community of attendees. Wellness activities, like sound baths, provide opportunities for attendees to connect with others who share similar health goals and challenges, creating a supportive environment for personal growth.

10 Wellness Trends for Events

Wellness trends are less about fitness and more about immersive experiences at events, said Iverson. Her take what’s trending in wellness for events:

minibreak
1. Wellness minibreaks. “These are short sessions—featuring activities such as stretching, grounding, breath work, or energy-boosting exercises—crafted to keep event attendees engaged and energized,” Iverson explained.

zen zone
2. Zen Dens. Thoughtfully curated and themed activities, like yoga, mediation, massage chairs, and puppy yoga, provide a harmonious blend of relaxation and rejuvenation, ensuring the perfect oasis of tranquility and self-care, she said. VR
3. Virtual reality (VR). “VR offers a distinctive avenue to engage in sports or meditation and mindfulness practices, fostering relaxation through immersive experiences,” Iverson said.

sound healing
4. Sound healing. De-stress from the constant noise of our busy, modern-day lives with sound healing instruments and singing bowls, she recommended. Both sound baths I participated in were in the evening. Notable: It’s a great evening alternative for those who don’t love cocktail receptions.

mocktail
5. Mocktail services. “With a variety of meticulously crafted blends, including classic twists and custom creations, participants can enjoy a diverse drinking experience that promotes inclusivity and responsible enjoyment,” Iverson said.

crystals
6. Crystal essentials. Some say crystals boost energy and well-being. A facilitator can help attendees discover the right crystal for their needs, whether it's overcoming blocks, boosting energy, or finding calm.

essential oils
7. Aromatherapy. “It is popular for its mood-enhancing and energizing effects,” Ivererson explained. “Essential oils promote mental clarity and relaxation.”

herb and tea
8. Herb and tea. “It is a wellness trend that equips participants with the knowledge to create personalized blends while understanding the benefits of herbs and teas,” she said.

nap pods
9. Nap pods. “They offer a secluded space for relaxation and rejuvenation,” she noted. “Participants can retreat into these tranquil pods to unwind and recharge, experiencing respite from the busy world.” Pictured are nap pods at the 2021 ASH ANNUAL MEETING & EXPOSITION at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. forest bathing
10. Forest bathing. “This immersive practice, supported by decades of research, involves soaking in the healing atmosphere of the forest,” Iverson said. “Its recent popularity surge is due to its proven health benefits, including boosted immune system, lowered blood pressure, and reduced depression.” Pictured above: Global Wellness Summit attendees had breakfast at Mount Charleston before going on a guided hike in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.
