Hotel News: Hilton, Hyatt Regency and More Complete Multi-Million-Dollar Revamp Projects, Unveil New Guest Experiences
As the travel and tourism industry shows signs of picking up this year, global hospitality brands are opening new properties and investing in extensive remodeling projects to lure back business and leisure guests seeking upgraded hotel and conference experiences. Take a look!
New Hotels
Hampton Inn by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton Indianapolis Canal IUPUI
Hilton recently expanded its multi-brand footprint with the Hampton Inn by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton Indianapolis Canal IUPUI, a new hotel in downtown Indianapolis, Ind.. Situated on the Indianapolis Canal Walk and across from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), the seven-story hotel is designed and built around an existing three-story church dating back to 1869 that was added to the National Register in 1991.
Featuring 231 guest rooms and suites and 11,000 square feet of meeting space, the dual-brand concept provides larger and enhanced communal areas and amenities than what is standard at a stand-alone property, and features a unique mix of amenities, including multiple retail offerings, a 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool and two outdoor patios with firepits and a grill.
Developed and managed by SUN Development & Management Corporation, the hotel is conveniently situated in the Canal and White River State Park Cultural District, with easy access to IUPUI, the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, multiple hospitals, the Indiana Government Center, Indiana Historical Society, Madame Walker Legacy Center, Military Park, White River State Park and the Indianapolis Zoo.
Hilton Singapore Orchard
On Feb. 24, Hilton unveiled Hilton Singapore Orchard, the hospitality company’s largest hotel in Asia Pacific. Located at the heart of Orchard Road, the 1,080-room landmark property sits in Singapore’s renowned shopping district and offers a vibrant blend of contemporary design, five high-end, curated dining concepts and extensive meeting spaces.
Paying homage to Singapore’s rich colonial history and agricultural heritage, the hotel features botanical references throughout the property’s artwork and interiors with an emphasis on an eco-friendly guest experience. All rooms and suites feature energy-efficient technology, including in-room motion, air-conditioning and light sensors, along with digital key access and smartphone-connected services.
The hotel’s 25,000-sq.-ft. meeting, conference and event center includes 16 flexible spaces bathed in natural light, as well as two pillarless ballrooms – the Grand Ballroom, accommodating up to 900 guests, and the multi-tiered, amphitheater-style Imperial Ballroom, featuring panoramic city views – that are fitted with state-of-the-art LED walls, lighting and sound technologies.
Renovations and Remodels
Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa
Formerly known as the Park Central hotel, the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa opened on Feb. 15 following a $70 million reimagination project. Centrally located in the South of Market (SoMa), San Francisco’s arts district, the local artwork-adorned hotel boasts some of the most expansive views of San Francisco and the Bay.
The multi-functional property’s plethora of refurbished amenities include 686 enhanced guest rooms and suites, a chef-driven restaurant, a lobby bar, a new Regency Club, a marketplace and coffee bar, an upgraded fitness studio, ground-floor public spaces and refreshed meeting and event spaces, all marked by contemporary décor and an art-driven narrative created by internationally recognized design firm BHDM Design.
The hotel’s refurbished 30,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space includes 16 function rooms, two ballrooms and several breakout rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Caribe Royale Orlando
The Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Fla., is gearing up to complete an extensive, $127 million renovation this spring that includes new suites and lakeside villas, a new lobby, enhancements to its meetings and event spaces and an upgraded culinary program for meeting groups.
Located near Walt Disney World and the city’s other top theme parks, the AAA Four Diamond resort offers 1,215 one-bedroom suites and 120 two-bedroom villas sporting a distinctly Floridian aesthetic and décor, while the new lobby features a bright, modernized look complemented by eye-catching details, personal check-in stations and access to numerous hotel amenities, including a new Starbucks, gift shop, lounges and restaurants.
In May 2021, the property debuted the 50,000-sq.-ft. Palms Ballroom, a flexible, column-free space that elevates the hotel’s versatile meeting and event space to 220,000 sq. ft. This new addition complements existing spaces, including the 40,000-sq.-ft. Grand Sierra Ballroom, the 26,000-sq.-ft. Caribbean Ballroom, the 6,900-sq.-ft. Boca Patio/Pavilion, 54 spacious breakout rooms, three executive boardrooms and 20,000 sq. ft. of outdoor space.
To complement its new event space, the resort’s culinary team has also reimagined its banquet menus, with creative new offerings and customized group experiences on tap, including a curated cocktail program.
The Caribe Royale also offers a slew of guest amenities, including five restaurants and bars; a 3,500-sq.-ft. fitness center, a spa, tennis and basketball courts, a 1.5-mile running trail, three outdoor swimming pools, numerous outdoor activities and more.
Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort and Golf Club
Since kicking off a comprehensive renovation project in the fall of 2021, the The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Fla., has made significant progress on its property-wide transformation. Designed by world-renowned firms Rockwell Group and Hart Howerton, the redesign includes the resort’s legendary veranda, porte cochère, main lobby, 362 guest rooms, spa, restaurants, pool terrace and meeting and event spaces, with an anticipated 2022 completion.
The revamp incorporates elegant design elements that celebrate The Vinoy’s traditional Mediterranean Revival design and old-Florida grandeur, with fully renovated Historic Tower guest rooms inspired by Florida’s coastal topography.
Already upgraded and ready for event groups is the property’s 2,600-sq.-ft. Grand Ballroom, now featuring new carpeting, drapery and furnishings, a new, lush walled garden outside its dramatic arched windows and a restoration of its iconic Chihuly chandelier. A revamp of the resort’s additional meeting and event spaces, including the 11,520-sq.-ft. Palm Court Ballroom, is expected to be completed this year.
Hyatt Regency Morristown
In January, the Hyatt Regency Morristown in Morristown, N.J., unveiled a reimagined hotel experience following a multimillion-dollar renovation that has transformed its 256 guest rooms, including 50 studio suites, lobby, dining offerings and indoor meeting spaces. Designed by global architecture and design firm Gensler, the downtown hotel features a modern colonial aesthetic incorporating the unique and rich history of the local area.
Along with a refreshed lobby, guest rooms, public spaces, lounge and bar, and new grab-and-go market and café, the property’s 31,000 sq. ft. of conference space has also been updated, including flexible meeting rooms and the Terrace and Plaza Ballrooms. The hotel’s former signature restaurant has been converted into a new meeting venue, and all spaces include updated lighting, new furniture and modern artwork. Additionally, groups can host events at a brand-new outdoor venue at the adjacent Pioneer Park courtyard beginning in April.
Additional guest offerings include the adjacent Crunch Fitness, a 40,000-sq.-ft. on-site fitness center, and close proximity to more than 40 restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues.
