Newest Property in Harbor Hotel Collection Opens on New York’s Lake Chautauqua
“Chautauqua” is an Iroquois word that is literally translated either as “a bag tied in the middle” or “two moccasins tied together,” and describes the shape of Lake Chautauqua, in Celoron, New York. Chautauqua Harbor Hotel is a new luxury property on the shores of that lake, in the area that gave rise to the Chautauqua Movement of educational and cultural centers in the late 1800s.
Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, located on the nine-acre former site of the Celoron Amusement Park, is the newest addition to Hart Hotels' Harbor Hotel Collection, a portfolio of AAA Four Diamond properties operated by Buffalo, New York-based Hart Hotels.
"We are thrilled to open Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, the fifth hotel in our Harbor Hotel Collection, and bring world-class, waterfront accommodations and conference facilities to the region,” said David Hart, president and CEO of Hart Hotels, Inc.
Many of the property’s 135 guest rooms and suites offer balconies and lake views. The hotel's Pier Ballroom and Conference Center offers 10,000 square feet of meeting space that includes a ballroom that can accommodate up to 375 guests with classroom-style seating, or 450 banquet-style. Seven other smaller meeting rooms are available, many of which can be combined in twos to provide a larger footprint for breakout sessions.
The lakeside Carousel Bar is connected by footbridge to Sunset Island, which offers a picturesque outdoor setting for private receptions.
The hotel offers onsite dining at the Lake House Tap and Grille as well as a complimentary morning coffee bar. Guest rooms include mini refrigerators and ecologically-conscious amenities. Complimentary WiFi access is available throughout the property. Guests can also take advantage of a state-of-the-art fitness center and both indoor and outdoor pools.
Area attractions include the Chautauqua Institution, the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, Fenton History Museum and the newly opened National Comedy Center in nearby Jamestown.
Chautauqua Harbor Hotel is approximately a two-hour drive from Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Buffalo International Airport is 1.5 hours away, and Chautauqua's full-service marina, located within minutes of the hotel, welcomes those arriving by boat.
