MPI Partners With dBase Media for Docuseries on Resurgence and Importance of Professional Events

August 12, 2022

A new corporate docuseries recently unveiled by Meeting Professionals International (MPI) aims to further the discussion and highlight the importance of professional meetings and events to drive business and cultivate community as the industry and the world emerge from the pandemic.

The multi-part docuseries, produced in conjunction with dBase Media, spotlights meeting and event experts who discuss the resurgence of professional gatherings, their noticeable impact on business and the creative professionals behind the scenes that make them a success.

Experience Professionals: Inside the Industry That Brings People Together explores the relationship between in-person gatherings and events and the many benefits to business acceleration. The episodes drive home messages such as the irreplaceable human connections that mold and define us being reliant upon people coming together—live and in-person—to shape and enhance us and our communities, and that whether attending or facilitating, live event experiences provide immeasurable human value and opportunity to everyone involved.

The Impact of Events

According to Paul Van Deventer, president and CEO of MPI, it cannot be overstated how important meetings and events are to the global economy because events are the catalysts for solutions, ideas, connections and progress, creating limitless value to people and societies everywhere.

“MPI believes that ‘when we meet, we change the world,’” Van Deventer said. “And the evidence of this industry’s impact on driving innovation, technology, learning and advancement is clear: Meetings and events have long been among the top contributors for worldwide economic impact, directly responsible for over $1 trillion in spending and 10.3 million jobs.”

Presented and narrated by former Good Morning America and CBS Today Show Correspondent Taryn Winter Brill, “Experience Professionals: Inside the Industry that Brings People Together” explores these issues, capturing stories from the people and organizations who work across the meetings and events industry. The program shows how through effective collaboration and education and with the right people, technology, locations and facilities, industry professionals can deliver meetings that matter.

Industry Thought Leaders

In creating and producing the program, MPI and DBM collaborated with prominent industry executives who make up a broad and diverse pool of authorities who are influencing the future of meetings and events.

The docuseries features:

  • Paul Van Deventer, president and CEO of MPI, who describes the energy through collaboration that takes place when people meet in-person and how it’s a catalyst for business growth
  • Annette Gregg, chief revenue officer of MPI, who exalts the many tasks that meeting planners manage and the creative approaches for collaboration, intentional networking and matching the right solutions
  • Drew Holmgreen, chief brand officer of MPI, who explains the benefits of connections at the community and chapter level, and their four key pillars through advocacy, collaboration, innovation and education.

Other featured participants include the Greater Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau (GOCVB); Freddie Georges Production Group (FG|PG), a creative and fabrication brand experience agency that crafts immersive live and virtual exhibits and experiences; and visit Central Oregon.

The multi-part docuseries is expected to have five or more episodes. Two are currently live online: “Influencing Meetings and Events” and “Meeting Destinations That Matter,” sponsored by the Greater Ontario CVB. The third episode, “Immersive and Creative Exhibit Designs,” sponsored by FG|PG, is scheduled to be released this week. To watch the docuseries, click here.
