InterContinental San Diego Opens on San Diego Bayfront
On Sept. 18, Intercontinental San Diego opened for business. The new 19-story, 400-room property overlooks the scenic San Diego bayfront.
For meetings, InterContinental San Diego has 35,000 square feet of flexible indoor space with natural light in every room.
The Pacific Ballroom can hold up to 1,500 attendees in its 12,000-square-foot space that features full-length windows framing Santa Fe Depot and the downtown cityscape. The smaller Bayview Ballroom can hold up to 475. Additional meeting rooms offer options for smaller meetings or breakout sessions.
For the ease of planners and attendees, dedicated elevators provide express access from the porte cochere to the conference space.
Located on the historic grounds of Lane Field – the former baseball stadium of the San Diego Padres from 1936 through 1957 — the property also offers 60,000 sq. ft. of outdoor event space, including multiple bay view terraces and Lane Field Park.
InterContinental San Diego also features a rooftop pool, sundeck and pool bar, a 3,300-square-foot health and wellness center with a yoga terrace and video wall for on-demand workout classes, and the Club InterContinental lounge.
David Hall, General Manager of InterContinental San Diego, said: "From first-class dining and amenities, to breathtaking bay views, the new Intercontinental San Diego showcases an elevated level of luxury for leisure and business travelers not previously offered in this area of Southern California."
Five on-property restaurants, bars and coffee shops will be available to hotel guests and visitors.
Local chefs Paul McCabe and Amy DiBiase have joined forces to create Vistal. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the bay view signature restaurant presents combinations of flavor influenced by the Baja peninsula, Pacific islands and Mediterranean fishing villages that have shaped San Diego culture.
The Vistal den, terrace and private dining room are available to rent for plated meals, receptions and other events.
In Oct. 2018, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse — the brand's first West Coast location — will open. A ground-level Starbucks coffee shop and a 19th floor rooftop bar are expected to debut in early 2019.
Just three miles from San Diego International Airport, InterContinental San Diego is steps away from the Embarcadero, home of the USS Midway and Maritime Museum of San Diego. The hotel is also close to the San Diego Convention Center, Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, Seaport Village and more.
