Hotel News: Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, The Langham Hotels & Resorts and More Undergo Renovation Projects, Unveil New Properties

The global hospitality industry continues readying itself for better times ahead with an array of new builds, remodels and expansion projects aimed to lure meeting and event groups through their doors. Take a look:

Marriott’s Autograph Collection recently opened its second Pittsburgh property, The Industrial Hotel. Housed within the historic James Arrott building in the city’s Central Business District, the new 18-story hotel features 124 rooms, including 28 suites, a second-floor lobby lounge serving Pittsburgh-style craft cocktails, meeting space, a fitness center, and signature restaurant The Rebel Room. 

Meticulously restored and renovated by Desmone Architects and designed by Stonehill Taylor, the hotel’s chic foundry-inspired interiors feature preserved historical details, including marble, original floors, arched windows and brass accents, fused with modern amenities.

Perfect for board meetings, interviews, corporate trainings and receptions for up to 78 people, the property’s Founders Room and Exchange Room offer 1,180 square feet of event space centrally located on one floor.

Hotel Indy

Hotel Indy

Hotel Indy, Indiana’s first Tribute Portfolio by Marriott property, is gearing up to open its doors in October. A one-of-a-kind boutique hotel experience inspired by the history and icons of Indianapolis, the property is located in the former State Life Insurance building in the city’s downtown Wholesale District. The six-story concrete cube, as it was once known, has been boldly reimagined with modern inspiration designed to preserve the building’s architectural roots dating back to the 1960s Brutalist era.

Managed by Coury Hospitality, the $30 million lifestyle hotel will feature 90 guest rooms, including six suites, a 95-seat rooftop bar, a signature dining concept and 1,500 sq. ft. of meeting space with two event rooms suitable for up to 65 people.

 

The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos

Ritz Carlton Turks & Caicos

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company recently opened The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos, marking the debut of the luxury hospitality brand on the world-famous Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The tropical resort features 147 ocean view guest rooms, including 23 suites, five three-story penthouse suites with private rooftop plunge pools and horizon views, an adults-only pool with private cabanas, a signature spa and three dining concepts serving fresh, local and seasonal cuisine.

Featuring 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 4,900-sq.-ft. ballroom that can be divided into three separate salons, the property also offers a selection of outdoor spaces, including an event lawn and grand promenade that showcase the white sands and sparkling waters of Grace Bay.

The resort also features The Casino at The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos, offering traditional table games for on-site entertainment.

 

Lake Nona Wave Hotel

CoralTree Hospitality will be debuting a new luxury, wellness-oriented lifestyle hotel this fall in the heart of the neo-urban community of Lake Nona in Orlando, Fla. With unique architecture inspired by waves of energy, the high-tech-infused Lake Nona Wave Hotel will feature 234 guest rooms, including 16 one-bedroom suites and two penthouse suites, a rooftop pool deck, two destination dining concepts and cocktail bars, a Technogym-powered fitness studio and more than 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space infused with natural light, UV filtered air filtration, leading-edge technology for hybrid events and complimentary WiFi 6.

The innovatively minded property will debut with many first-of-its-kind amenities, including View Smart Windows, voice-automated in-room controls, TOTO smart toilets, Healthe Inc. Cleanse Solutions that keep vital surfaces sanitized, in-room tablets and keyless entry.

Remodels and Expansions

 

The Langham

The Langham Boston

The Langham, Boston recently reopened its doors after a two-year, multimillion-dollar renovation and reimagination project that includes fully renovated guest rooms and suites, and a new lobby, ballroom, destination bar and Italian restaurant.

Formerly the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the historic property is situated in the heart of the city and features 312 redesigned guest rooms, including 17 luxury suites, with New England-inspired décor, and 11 refurbished event spaces totaling 13,500 sq. ft. The new Lincoln Ballroom, which can accommodate 175 guests, features natural light and pre-function space overlooking a city-center green space with a garden trellis.

This fall, The Langham will introduce The Langham Club, a signature of The Langham Hotels & Resorts brand, featuring a private space in which guests who have purchased Club access can meet, eat and socialize as well as take advantage of a brand-new pool, hot tub and fitness center.

Hilton London Metropole

Hilton London Metropole, the largest Hilton property outside of the U.S., is undergoing a complete multimillion-dollar refurbishment expected to be completed this summer. The project will include 1,096 guestrooms and suites revitalized with a contemporary aesthetic reflecting different London boroughs, while the hotel’s four restaurants and bars will be relaunched with new drinking and dining concepts, including an all-day British brasserie and a relaxed market-style dining outlet. The transformation will also include a new 2,150-sq.-ft. fitness studio.

Extensive renovations are also being made to the hotel’s 35 event spaces and meeting rooms, including two dedicated hybrid meeting rooms and three ballrooms, which total more than 49,500 sq. ft.

The hotel has embraced the latest in technology, from upgraded WiFi to the introduction of Digital Key, which allows Hilton Honors members to check-in and choose their room using their smartphone via the Hilton Honors app.

The Alfond at Rollins

This summer, The Alfond Inn at Rollins will break ground on its much-anticipated expansion project, which was placed on a temporary hold in the spring of 2020. Located in the heart of historic Winter Park, Fla., the boutique hotel will soon gain 71 new luxury guest rooms and suites, a communal lobby café, a wellness spa, a second pool with private cabanas and a new amenity deck available for private events, as well as an additional 2,400 square feet of meeting space to complement its existing 10,000 sq. ft. of event space.

Expected to be completed by the summer of 2023, the project will also include the renovation of the hotel’s existing 112 rooms and suites. Renovation of the lobby, library and bar, and private dining room have been recently completed.

Owned by neighboring Rollins College, a private coeducational liberal arts college, the hotel directs its net operating income to The Alfond Scholars Program and has given away millions of dollars in full scholarships to Rollins College since it opened in 2013. It is also the only hotel in the U.S. that serves as the formal extension of an art museum, The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art, which features nearly 500 artworks.
