Hilton Unveils First Signia by Hilton Hotel in California
Hilton recently expanded its California portfolio with the opening and conversion of Silicon Valley’s largest hotel, Signia by Hilton San Jose, formerly The Fairmont San Jose. Representing Signia by Hilton’s first hotel in the Golden State, the property is the second in the brand portfolio following Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek’s debut in 2021.
Situated in downtown San Jose and owned by Eagle Canyon Capital, the stylishly redesigned 805-room hotel features a one-of-a-kind lobby and bar, and is undergoing a modernization of its Main Tower, which is set for completion in early 2023.
According to Danny Hughes, executive vice president and president, Americas, Hilton, the city of San Jose offers the ideal location to expand Hilton’s California presence, an integral part of the company’s robust strategy in its largest growing U.S. market.
“We are delighted to welcome Signia by Hilton to San Jose, a city that is synonymous with innovation,” Hughes said. “The hotel’s debut strengthens the city’s positioning as a leading destination for some of the most prominent meetings and social events.”
Blending modern grandeur with sophisticated style, the hotel is situated on Plaza de César Chávez Park and is surrounded by Fortune 500 companies. Located within walking distance of the San Jose Convention Center, it’s also near some of the city’s most renowned cultural venues, including the San Jose Museum of Art, the Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose State University and Opera San Jose, as well as sports and entertainment venues including SAP Center and Levi’s Stadium.
Additionally, the Pacific Coast and some of the state’s world-class wineries are just a little more than 30 miles away.
Reinvigorated Design and Spacious Accommodations
Designed by The Rockwell Group, the hotel’s reinvigorated lobby features a series of dramatic archways and glowing chandeliers, and classic architecture comprising warm wood paneling, stone and soft neutral tones, centered around a massive carved marble bar with an intricate light installation composed of crystal glass and metal rods.
Offering 226 guest rooms and 32 suites featuring a choice of panoramic views of the Santa Cruz mountains or views of downtown San Jose, the 13-story South Tower’s rooms range from 450 square feet to 1,200 sq. ft. They feature high-quality furnishings, 300-thread-count sheets, Molton Brown bathroom amenities, a Nespresso machine and a comfortable sitting area with a work desk and oversized windows.
Debuting early next year, HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates is spearheading a full interior design transformation of the hotel’s 20-story Main Tower with 498 rooms and 43 suites, including a complete bathroom remodel that will offer marble vanities and showers with residential-style fixtures as well as a separate makeup vanity. Select room types will also feature Peloton bikes.
Inspiring Meetings and Events
Able to house corporate event groups of all sizes, Signia by Hilton San Jose features 65,000 sq. ft. of total event space, including the Imperial Ballroom, the largest ballroom in Silicon Valley, which can host events of more than 3,000 attendees. Featuring smart design paired with the newest technologies, the hotel’s 22 contemporary meeting spaces come complete with pre-function areas.
The property also offers options for memorable outdoor functions and can accommodate tailored culinary offerings for all types of gatherings. For planners opting for an outdoor function, the hotel can create customized events with the neighboring Paseo de San Antonio and the Circle of Palms Plaza, which can accommodate up to 500 guests. The hotel’s pool area is also a unique option available for outdoor gatherings.
