The Event Tech Tribe: Reinventing the Business of Event Technology

September 21, 2017

Many corporate event professionals are not overly tech-confident. It’s not their core business.  But in order to get the most out of most event software, you often need to have a deep technical understanding of how things work behind the scenes.

Integration between event software tools can be challenging, is often just cobbling disparate technology together, and may be complex enough to require involvement from IT. Even single-provider solutions may be conglomerations from acquisitions rather than being built to work as a whole.

Event marketers don’t typically have the time to deal with figuring out how to implement new technology. It’s difficult enough to find the time to figure out what software will best suit your needs – so you end up using whatever solution is already in place, or use several different tools and do a lot of manual work in order to get the information from one system into another or provide reporting.

Enter the Event Tech Tribe. The brainchild of Leonora Valvo and coordinated by Marie-Claire Andrews, who together came up with the idea at an industry event over a year ago, the concept of the Event Tech Tribe is to make the event technology experience easier for event marketers and planners.

The Tribe is a collaborative ensemble of best-in-craft event technology providers who have chosen to work together technically and collaborate at a client level. It comprises six unique and complementary providers, each of whom offer a solution to address one facet of event marketing or planning.

The twist? All of these products are designed to seamlessly integrate, so you can choose exactly the solutions you need, whether that’s a single product or all six.

Swoogo is responsive, mobile-friendly event registration software. Hubb is event management software that automates content workflows. Glisser provides tools for sharing content and interacting with your audience. TRC offers badge printing, attendance tracking, and lead retrieval. InsightXM is an event intelligence platform for data analytics and insights. And the newest addition to the Tribe, EventOps, delivers a solution to help with event logistics and operations management.

Every member of the Event Tech Tribe is run by an experienced event professional, culturally hard-wired to think like an event planner. Together, they’ve built a way of working that puts the customer first. As all of the providers are entrepreneur-led, they are able to remain nimble, maintain that flexibility, and work together as extensions of each other’s teams.

Andrews describes the Tribe’s philosophy: “We believe in a unified, collaborative, planner-first approach. Technology should augment the event experience, it shouldn’t be a hassle. Basically, our goal is simple: to make events more awesome.”

The Event Tech Tribe doesn’t stop at providing software solutions. They also offer a series of Event Intelligence webinars and face-to-face events. Next up: Women in Event Tech at IMEX on October 10, and the San Francisco stop on their UNITE2017 roadshow on October 16. Both events are free to attend.

Thanks for sharing about Event Tech Tribe. We have not heard about it but will look into a potential partnership now. As a female-founded tech company, we look forward to meeting Leonora and Marie-Claire.
